I'll be sure to post on here for the next couple of times before I shut this blog down. Also, some of the first post on the WordPress blog are going to be copying this blog so that I can save some posts, such as my portfolio and some others. Thanks for dealing with the change. Here's the link to the new blog. <div><br /></div><div><a href="http://bobbyellisphotos.wordpress.com/">http://bobbyellisphotos.wordpress.com/</a></div>BobbyDEllishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05327555331965799728noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2918061260694155526.post-22394272719576377712011-11-22T03:15:00.004-05:002011-11-22T03:18:31.505-05:00I'm Still Here<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb-YbzzPsZh-bMH6_kCXp-x_ZRMvs-ORqkiCqQ3eBiCgsY5_VnbumVexEBkHRPICBJ02N92RyA6QUSCecwyw4lE0A9fFFJqz8C1HpGB_TICrGEIB27Mn4NYLjLPNey7pKW0_SYf2udmCo/s1600/012_Ellis_002b.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 205px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb-YbzzPsZh-bMH6_kCXp-x_ZRMvs-ORqkiCqQ3eBiCgsY5_VnbumVexEBkHRPICBJ02N92RyA6QUSCecwyw4lE0A9fFFJqz8C1HpGB_TICrGEIB27Mn4NYLjLPNey7pKW0_SYf2udmCo/s400/012_Ellis_002b.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5677731246130472466" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyNNDbxUn0pBnK3uckQ0j3xdj_2bvICiUMujSw0VAH1gahpHiO2-Bfw_qmZP-zVsmw1EoyGLnxjrSWcBpkpPIhxI6LDukIcWhOvDcg0CfeA3cKWl0RaMAUOzopwgufw1_hbBBBVKF9dkM/s1600/012_Ellis_002a.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyNNDbxUn0pBnK3uckQ0j3xdj_2bvICiUMujSw0VAH1gahpHiO2-Bfw_qmZP-zVsmw1EoyGLnxjrSWcBpkpPIhxI6LDukIcWhOvDcg0CfeA3cKWl0RaMAUOzopwgufw1_hbBBBVKF9dkM/s400/012_Ellis_002a.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5677731239374373810" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIg3SeeYfHtvaybkAnR-RuDXMjyxFE2dz93PxINvNo3kHUVZOOrwkSICI6vmWV3bH9FcH3PtVNy9nzTJ4IdpQ1DBbI3N8On4YB39DOLpFeWaHooanZDp8ju-RO-HowQYqzs4_t8sG8aiM/s1600/Ellis_VetDay+02.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIg3SeeYfHtvaybkAnR-RuDXMjyxFE2dz93PxINvNo3kHUVZOOrwkSICI6vmWV3bH9FcH3PtVNy9nzTJ4IdpQ1DBbI3N8On4YB39DOLpFeWaHooanZDp8ju-RO-HowQYqzs4_t8sG8aiM/s400/Ellis_VetDay+02.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5677731236999166450" /></a><br />It's been a couple of weeks since my last blog post and I just wanted to make sure you all knew I was still alive. These are just a sample of some of the shots that I've done in the last couple of weeks. The top two are a behind the scenes look at the traveling Broadway play "Beauty and the Beast." The third is a photo that I did for Veteran's Day. It's not my best shot but I wanted to post something that you couldn't see on my newspaper's photo blog. Hope you enjoy them. I've been having some technical difficulty with <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Blogspot</span> for the last couple of days and if it doesn't fix itself soon I'm thinking about making an alternative blog in over at <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Wordpress</span>. I'll keep this blog up for awhile afterwards so I can use it to show people until I get enough clips on the other one. Keep an eye out for the link to the future photo blog. As heated as politics are now I thought that it was interesting to see the two candidates being civil to each other, especially before a debate.BobbyDEllishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05327555331965799728noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2918061260694155526.post-56377155813736373362011-10-13T12:56:00.002-04:002011-10-13T13:10:00.873-04:00Another Civil War Post<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL4wTEUDafEXwfzsOcI0BfvNaGZn93RruEJ9k0eDHNNxOgDQjdByHRb-BzZysm6tLHOvUhm-OVQ8_GU6Pw_lPmCaHSyLES7GXL0edHWjr-f6ThcxvcgL7l1KU2h8TWSKkPc0mLwFMf_1E/s1600/CivilWar+21.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL4wTEUDafEXwfzsOcI0BfvNaGZn93RruEJ9k0eDHNNxOgDQjdByHRb-BzZysm6tLHOvUhm-OVQ8_GU6Pw_lPmCaHSyLES7GXL0edHWjr-f6ThcxvcgL7l1KU2h8TWSKkPc0mLwFMf_1E/s400/CivilWar+21.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5663025107499149442" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlm6q9m6kXiZrFG2TCG_FwDgRqCyGQSEFCkB16JUJEJ3QGB_gdpLkdh7xZvBGY4bM1T1rRH-6Q24p2-rWGzgEUIAuwDz-gzhY5AqtBUAai1tGDoQuxMxNINVsKkBsaJOEXFRWOWsg7BCs/s1600/CivilWar+20.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 270px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlm6q9m6kXiZrFG2TCG_FwDgRqCyGQSEFCkB16JUJEJ3QGB_gdpLkdh7xZvBGY4bM1T1rRH-6Q24p2-rWGzgEUIAuwDz-gzhY5AqtBUAai1tGDoQuxMxNINVsKkBsaJOEXFRWOWsg7BCs/s400/CivilWar+20.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5663025093103512946" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ1DveV0lALj5LvQyNwkXPYXX5X3P6NRVZYamApbRpnI1rwlbZkQgdxaTOeHx_pPFtpn7mNpbT4KdXELnHhcheFC2ZQDqGp4WtCAUReQVPDrPRr_keqUX_q-3CNaXtb4odk2xRzjoRZGs/s1600/CivilWar+19.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ1DveV0lALj5LvQyNwkXPYXX5X3P6NRVZYamApbRpnI1rwlbZkQgdxaTOeHx_pPFtpn7mNpbT4KdXELnHhcheFC2ZQDqGp4WtCAUReQVPDrPRr_keqUX_q-3CNaXtb4odk2xRzjoRZGs/s400/CivilWar+19.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5663025078578751266" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinZy-voYl5ypQFp-pQuezSnaafc9-FuXeaATzSF6KO2NsDNoSQoHu9rBZc76gASxuiGjbtLMiQRXXOx36nNRqcavI6UmGjQaaQ-hZ0DNxInxOy6rMZF3y-v1eMpyXa3uNzVc9Hd9i6kHM/s1600/CivilWar+18.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinZy-voYl5ypQFp-pQuezSnaafc9-FuXeaATzSF6KO2NsDNoSQoHu9rBZc76gASxuiGjbtLMiQRXXOx36nNRqcavI6UmGjQaaQ-hZ0DNxInxOy6rMZF3y-v1eMpyXa3uNzVc9Hd9i6kHM/s400/CivilWar+18.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5663025070188719218" /></a><br />Just figured I would put some more photos up from the Civil War reenactment. In fact I haven't posted anything since my internship ended in June. My reasoning is that I have been super busy. I promise to try and keep things more up to date but anyway, here are some very recent shots, like yesterday recent. I did some freelance (and free) work for the Hartford City news this weekend when I went up to Hartford City to take pictures of the annual Civil War Days. <div>If it's one thing I've always loved it's history, and I felt like I was in heaven the entire time I was on this assignment, I even got some information to joining up with an Indiana infantry unit. </div><div>Shooting this was a little different than what I thought it would be like. When I went into the it I figured that most of my good shots would come from the battle but in reality it came from all the downtime before the battle. I definitely plan on putting some more photos up from this event but for now, here are these five. </div>BobbyDEllishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05327555331965799728noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2918061260694155526.post-31193456043792455652011-07-14T23:26:00.005-04:002011-07-14T23:44:41.552-04:00We're Going Home!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFrE656ZYiwl6Dokf-VYd-gABFwjmU0puGhxCbm5IzJFkGLyfouRFplGS_pzchU3nOA4iZ93MOkojHVm04zOZ3t_RVBh7XR7OyqdcL-PbaerlkfY2uasw5HH4ReO191eKw7e0E3YgFWu4/s1600/AlphaCo_Graduation+51.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFrE656ZYiwl6Dokf-VYd-gABFwjmU0puGhxCbm5IzJFkGLyfouRFplGS_pzchU3nOA4iZ93MOkojHVm04zOZ3t_RVBh7XR7OyqdcL-PbaerlkfY2uasw5HH4ReO191eKw7e0E3YgFWu4/s400/AlphaCo_Graduation+51.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629419797711139522" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVlwN6bvDXBdqIDHTBs3ijkaRCCUHfwBCM06PpSd2mfvNRharRibpXG9e7rsdrzoCazqO_hwBEyXxCrkLku4Lz02vh8Zzku3j1EA6j8mUpCF54fTUO-gyNZJCql-I_ERB_XO1G_Y3sCqY/s1600/AlphaCo_Graduation+04.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVlwN6bvDXBdqIDHTBs3ijkaRCCUHfwBCM06PpSd2mfvNRharRibpXG9e7rsdrzoCazqO_hwBEyXxCrkLku4Lz02vh8Zzku3j1EA6j8mUpCF54fTUO-gyNZJCql-I_ERB_XO1G_Y3sCqY/s400/AlphaCo_Graduation+04.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629416119650589026" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFbW1qbHgKevv8zX4Jhx8uSHb4DsDhLCm_ExcEvRlnXWf_XzGI5W2iBtsFncp7FrsLJTKAznAwnnRDLxtk-q1u_9s8HxzHyrsI0XFhd6e2QgUvjzX4-Se-vDLWcbFTuuI-gBCyJJ0-iwI/s1600/AlphaCo_Graduation+03.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 286px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFbW1qbHgKevv8zX4Jhx8uSHb4DsDhLCm_ExcEvRlnXWf_XzGI5W2iBtsFncp7FrsLJTKAznAwnnRDLxtk-q1u_9s8HxzHyrsI0XFhd6e2QgUvjzX4-Se-vDLWcbFTuuI-gBCyJJ0-iwI/s400/AlphaCo_Graduation+03.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629416110531954962" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG9h7Kv_93FX6WBEPKa-V0-2v_OBOzKbgzZ3wHxYFg9mUdJ6BAs8y1YNgWT6SNEKJ0fwYoeuuK2j5okAAuknWOdXAyfUmz8PUCExrnzMw57tH44nOZKUIMbj1V4_HMRcxzMXszxCgs90g/s1600/AlphaCo_FamilyDay+29.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG9h7Kv_93FX6WBEPKa-V0-2v_OBOzKbgzZ3wHxYFg9mUdJ6BAs8y1YNgWT6SNEKJ0fwYoeuuK2j5okAAuknWOdXAyfUmz8PUCExrnzMw57tH44nOZKUIMbj1V4_HMRcxzMXszxCgs90g/s400/AlphaCo_FamilyDay+29.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5629416127129176946" border="0" /></a>Well Alpha Company has graduated and I have once again realized that I have not been keeping the three of you, actually I think there's less than that, loyal followers up to date with my photos. So here are some from the final days of Alpha Co. here at Ft. Knox. It was really nice to see all the families getting back together and to see how proud the families were of their cadets. Looking back on it, you could tell that these people came in a certain way and left as much more mature people. There was much hugging and kissing of boyfriends and girlfriends at the reunion. It even made me smile. Also, I've never had so many people telling me how much they appreciated my work. It made me pretty happy to know that I did a good job and I helped make it enjoyable for the parents.<br /><br />It was difficult to see the cadets go since I finally started making some friends with them as they were winding down. Some of the other photographers got really close to their cadets from the start but I didn't feel like that was professional. I like to keep a professional distance from my subjects that way I know that I will cover them fairly and that I won't focus on person or group to much. Thank you ethics class.<br /><br />Anyway, hope you like the photos. Let me know what you think and hey, since you're here why don't you mark yourself down as a follower over there to the side ->. Also, it would help me out if people started following the RSS feed. That way I don't have to worry about posting this up on 10 different sites to make sure people know about it. Also, and this is the last thing, let your friends know about this site! Pretty please! So yeah, start following, sign up for the RSS, and spread the word. Oh, and leave comments as always.BobbyDEllishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05327555331965799728noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2918061260694155526.post-78851788765955601392011-07-04T23:27:00.003-04:002011-07-04T23:35:21.946-04:00It's Been Awhile<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiotEV2NbJ42-mK6zXAcXf-h-RfHslF2d-_TYtTqX0_-NpXArqoOKqCCPp54gTF_WIxtwVAvlsJnlTRmXWql-NFmiFjT2USro9D7vAmg2u2bWt87Nxcrj551W-bHkwe4FkxZhzeu92w-9s/s1600/AlphaCo_BRM+29.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 282px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiotEV2NbJ42-mK6zXAcXf-h-RfHslF2d-_TYtTqX0_-NpXArqoOKqCCPp54gTF_WIxtwVAvlsJnlTRmXWql-NFmiFjT2USro9D7vAmg2u2bWt87Nxcrj551W-bHkwe4FkxZhzeu92w-9s/s400/AlphaCo_BRM+29.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625705432359685154" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ0h-2n8QC04eGiywkxmccU31C9NdcFo9TOuU6mOjU39CtGXo7gMveKQOH7RDKjgyJkGrBvgh-86xQY06WDuCNBvFW4qSLrM0iAV1-cpVaYhOUpeEj2JudfJbMjcg8ooAjfYZgKuhqaLo/s1600/AlphaCo_COW+27.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 217px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ0h-2n8QC04eGiywkxmccU31C9NdcFo9TOuU6mOjU39CtGXo7gMveKQOH7RDKjgyJkGrBvgh-86xQY06WDuCNBvFW4qSLrM0iAV1-cpVaYhOUpeEj2JudfJbMjcg8ooAjfYZgKuhqaLo/s400/AlphaCo_COW+27.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625705414821183090" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNIhMw0EcR3mGGF6ZoAUC8-cMnjJFyutoWyMpKmbqvYI5O6HVFsKxKTqiAHq_QIPSdKH2l1k4TuCqE2UvBOUIb9LLlwHg82SrggLWkE2r-lLZSYZ-coebzWTi_ZSz2AWntaWIo3kJqq2I/s1600/AlphaCo_STX+19.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNIhMw0EcR3mGGF6ZoAUC8-cMnjJFyutoWyMpKmbqvYI5O6HVFsKxKTqiAHq_QIPSdKH2l1k4TuCqE2UvBOUIb9LLlwHg82SrggLWkE2r-lLZSYZ-coebzWTi_ZSz2AWntaWIo3kJqq2I/s400/AlphaCo_STX+19.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625705443147079682" border="0" /></a><br />So once again I find myself looking at the calendar and realizing that it's been forever since I put a post up here. There has been so much going on with LTC and my company is getting ready to graduate in less than two weeks. It's been a really interesting experience and it was cool to see these guys develop basically in front of my eyes. In about a week they're going to have an event called "Family Day" which is exactly what it sounds like. For that they're going to blow a couple of my photos up to literally gigantic size. I don't know the exact numbers but I think it's around 5'x7'. Anyway, that's being done for two of my photos. One of which is the water photo up above here. Hope everyone enjoys the shots. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.BobbyDEllishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05327555331965799728noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2918061260694155526.post-71601487641706015392011-06-22T21:58:00.002-04:002011-06-22T22:07:18.194-04:00Water, Water, So Much Water.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinDL5e-NOslcXoYCWma83tCzzL_73pmYKF-kENOhTjk08FCAmZNpN7n-D3PCdi9KCLn9a1VMzkbOviDwmq-x_ZzueiOdWakgxSXAMAFX_Y7SG1RFhyt2tR6pPxIqGayaP8cr5de1VUG7c/s1600/AlphaCo_Water+29.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinDL5e-NOslcXoYCWma83tCzzL_73pmYKF-kENOhTjk08FCAmZNpN7n-D3PCdi9KCLn9a1VMzkbOviDwmq-x_ZzueiOdWakgxSXAMAFX_Y7SG1RFhyt2tR6pPxIqGayaP8cr5de1VUG7c/s400/AlphaCo_Water+29.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5621229470604987858" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoZlEkISazp39zKtEcE39jATVMwtokO2L9tQ0KZUtXXuSw8TLg892uzaYwHuHJdW7tg_7BMJzPPYXWgVuyvZKNusFWDVwbbcTwy4jg0f-lRJpeXO2X042XUk1dM6zfcUnzvfiBteYk1SU/s1600/AlphaCo_Water+20.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoZlEkISazp39zKtEcE39jATVMwtokO2L9tQ0KZUtXXuSw8TLg892uzaYwHuHJdW7tg_7BMJzPPYXWgVuyvZKNusFWDVwbbcTwy4jg0f-lRJpeXO2X042XUk1dM6zfcUnzvfiBteYk1SU/s400/AlphaCo_Water+20.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5621229464678309186" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEeHDqfiwbYHYI2IgXQAbbA7hO_p2rekZT2eNIS9eYFnEhyphenhyphenZAhbRB9IMUvTxBN-2wjKGjjG5K1wt5JbEdnL9CiI8N0I03AeHc4arRXY91ZnPrkFvJ9Y8W6CT95xDg-PN84kqCI-lHZgfI/s1600/AlphaCo_Water+38.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 253px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEeHDqfiwbYHYI2IgXQAbbA7hO_p2rekZT2eNIS9eYFnEhyphenhyphenZAhbRB9IMUvTxBN-2wjKGjjG5K1wt5JbEdnL9CiI8N0I03AeHc4arRXY91ZnPrkFvJ9Y8W6CT95xDg-PN84kqCI-lHZgfI/s400/AlphaCo_Water+38.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5621229478310273506" border="0" /></a><br />So I've been feeling a little down on my photo skills the last couple of days but I think I may have finally gotten some of my swagger back. The internship is going pretty well even though I'm so busy I hardly have anytime to do anything besides shoot, eat and sleep. For the last two days I've been waist high in a creek having artillery simulators go off around me while I try desperately not to let my camera equipment fall to a watery grave. Quite fun really. Seeing the other interns photos has really put a fire under me to get some better shots. I don't care if they say we shouldn't be competing, I always am. I think they're liars if they so they're not. Anyway, hope everyone enjoys the photos. Questions, comments or suggestions? Please let me know.<br /><br />P.s. It's been a couple of days but I apologize to no one. My work schedule has been insane. Shooting Alpha Company has been a lot of fun so far. Today was the first day that they went into the field and got down and dirty. I've got a couple of pictures from that and I've also got a portrait from the day that the cadets were issued their ACUs (Army Combat Uniforms). I'm actually pretty nervous about my photos since it's close to impossible to get "bad" photos in these situations. So I feel like I need to do extra good to stand out over the other photographers. As I was telling a Master Sergeant today.<br />"I want others to succeed. I just want to succeed more than they do."<br />Hopefully you like the photos. Comment and let me know what you think. Knox for the LTC. Basically all that happened was the cadets did paper work and watched sketches about sexual harassment. The photo on top is of cadets getting their photos taken for their IDs while the bottom one is a little self portrait I decided to throw in since I didn't really have anything else to do. Anyway, I'm having issues with getting the page with the gallery to work right now so be on the lookout for the link to that.BobbyDEllishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05327555331965799728noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2918061260694155526.post-65606165939049727972011-06-12T23:19:00.003-04:002011-06-12T23:30:18.492-04:00Yes, Drill Sergeant!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgye3NHohqViG1UmAKAjyoQS9WHry9qptEeqkgEZRu-q2BybTf05RZdH5eKCYzQNz8pJsC5cDRGTCvsReOuyuvfFiO0V7rf1S8tStHACETxi3z8hKCYw5IUKa-6f5iynpcY-4gASvjsx2E/s1600/AlphaCo_Arrival+27.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgye3NHohqViG1UmAKAjyoQS9WHry9qptEeqkgEZRu-q2BybTf05RZdH5eKCYzQNz8pJsC5cDRGTCvsReOuyuvfFiO0V7rf1S8tStHACETxi3z8hKCYw5IUKa-6f5iynpcY-4gASvjsx2E/s400/AlphaCo_Arrival+27.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5617539460752155090" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd7v-xdUWp4_Wu-_FL-NgXk9y-qssoZeUHvL-WIyB8LmCpYlGnn84wDsAr8QUqUejI0SQB_8XWoignB9uh80GE11dQV0C-iWQYqQGVdSrPkLPGgKqP-IKtqWKWHy2xpVg7Nyhuvq_2RMc/s1600/AlphaCo_Arrival+13.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd7v-xdUWp4_Wu-_FL-NgXk9y-qssoZeUHvL-WIyB8LmCpYlGnn84wDsAr8QUqUejI0SQB_8XWoignB9uh80GE11dQV0C-iWQYqQGVdSrPkLPGgKqP-IKtqWKWHy2xpVg7Nyhuvq_2RMc/s400/AlphaCo_Arrival+13.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5617539451006579042" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkxTR8lWjiDXhONzz8tpdS4hYn_ExyxArAPr1Nm_uUxaA0ARMOMfTVJ3qE27tatbD-2ioxzKii9_637r8OLmWL4RZWLRiooQaQkt3a5oVwVHoCClYeDD51P1g77xCTIWLEGWt9k77unFc/s1600/AlphaCo_Arrival+03.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 377px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkxTR8lWjiDXhONzz8tpdS4hYn_ExyxArAPr1Nm_uUxaA0ARMOMfTVJ3qE27tatbD-2ioxzKii9_637r8OLmWL4RZWLRiooQaQkt3a5oVwVHoCClYeDD51P1g77xCTIWLEGWt9k77unFc/s400/AlphaCo_Arrival+03.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5617539447021895474" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEis-i97mVeEAgUBQdEB5Xt7dcs5ROs8sF4yReDDlriCuMfHQ6GLlML33sBmNxi3Vtp682nqROUeaih1DwvdnPu492LmW71RspXDel3araxmV5sz0usaBRk5ZpCWsBuACT29tE0tHEblZTs/s1600/AlphaCo_Arrival+39.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEis-i97mVeEAgUBQdEB5Xt7dcs5ROs8sF4yReDDlriCuMfHQ6GLlML33sBmNxi3Vtp682nqROUeaih1DwvdnPu492LmW71RspXDel3araxmV5sz0usaBRk5ZpCWsBuACT29tE0tHEblZTs/s400/AlphaCo_Arrival+39.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5617539469299020626" border="0" /></a><br />Well I shot my first day at my internship as a Public Affairs Officer (Photo Intern) working for the Leaders Training Course at Ft. Knox. Today was the easy stuff for the cadets. Basically just getting here and getting settled. It's really quite amazing, the Drill Sergeant (not Sir, Drill Sergeant!) are told to operate at half of the meanness since the cadets are not recruits. They're simply here to see if they want to join the military. Even so, I found myself frightened of them even though I knew they didn't really give a damn about me. In fact, the Drill Sergeants are quite nice to me. As an intern I get to experience all of the fun stuff like rappelling and M-16 targeting without having to go through all of the yelling and other things. I've got a month more of shooting to do with activities that will be much more visually exciting than this so I hope you enjoy the teaser.BobbyDEllishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05327555331965799728noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2918061260694155526.post-14481038288049245952011-06-01T11:41:00.004-04:002011-06-01T12:05:37.466-04:00Churchill Downs<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJWu9WOEmv1dv1IAVnHg11OUDKwmc0krrnOiZRHIdmqvZHHmiYfn_mQzqhgW_efDR90Kv-RKEKCxkwRQ7T6Z3mKMlj_UTPuCA8-NtWN5gPMNU59hgd7TNZz0yZwQmJSj6_AVvMLYMjkRg/s1600/Churchill+Downs+05.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 356px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJWu9WOEmv1dv1IAVnHg11OUDKwmc0krrnOiZRHIdmqvZHHmiYfn_mQzqhgW_efDR90Kv-RKEKCxkwRQ7T6Z3mKMlj_UTPuCA8-NtWN5gPMNU59hgd7TNZz0yZwQmJSj6_AVvMLYMjkRg/s400/Churchill+Downs+05.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613279233700549906" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCnIbsgKgFknO-BYvggR1KuaotwRMqFwbcqfCLmrIyEAV3djkjQdDmXMzl2OcT7xDFYJd3yZhAjWEQdoDoTWv5Upc2Jbl0Ub2i3fxbuBUfahGjSa0T16-KIQ8JTVmpJqX9eL9DRA_bsPM/s1600/Churchill+Downs+03.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCnIbsgKgFknO-BYvggR1KuaotwRMqFwbcqfCLmrIyEAV3djkjQdDmXMzl2OcT7xDFYJd3yZhAjWEQdoDoTWv5Upc2Jbl0Ub2i3fxbuBUfahGjSa0T16-KIQ8JTVmpJqX9eL9DRA_bsPM/s400/Churchill+Downs+03.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613279223809486594" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI_DBPlqLe-_wVv0ieRi5wXFdfNotgLnjdbeCwp_R_jD0E0iQelHlmjaluK5KscpPxqi5Gh5qpXJsZhk6qqJ7QsfuqSnzs4PxXE0aK-g4_QXqYS_3lHjH_bsIT3xUYwPpIWigWtCKJZFk/s1600/Churchill+Downs+02.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI_DBPlqLe-_wVv0ieRi5wXFdfNotgLnjdbeCwp_R_jD0E0iQelHlmjaluK5KscpPxqi5Gh5qpXJsZhk6qqJ7QsfuqSnzs4PxXE0aK-g4_QXqYS_3lHjH_bsIT3xUYwPpIWigWtCKJZFk/s400/Churchill+Downs+02.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613279219655656978" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy32ZIiGLgXuQxjoSeC88Dk8XbLW9tjx0I3p3Ng12T6B1kp6YatjYrh6XLOJsy3kK9h8eextEapEBncMW8LWnjFqOxxhPPg5ezD2yPwwtEDml09bgKgggcXi4vcGxISV3jdDykuiExKNk/s1600/Churchill+Downs+01.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 236px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy32ZIiGLgXuQxjoSeC88Dk8XbLW9tjx0I3p3Ng12T6B1kp6YatjYrh6XLOJsy3kK9h8eextEapEBncMW8LWnjFqOxxhPPg5ezD2yPwwtEDml09bgKgggcXi4vcGxISV3jdDykuiExKNk/s400/Churchill+Downs+01.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613279210944124978" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFtI6EeJ87-0zxMNsVMZkH4OJo0W5xVdGCgo-6doDVv4nn85V42_VlI3MDvYi55ZnFVxKRhHQXd5sCQCxSoDw4fMUWWSvhO9IZq_nCWXFj3HjEFI4_PJEb-IdVSEwSUKDHs38O5m-UqCo/s1600/Churchill+Downs+06.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 264px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFtI6EeJ87-0zxMNsVMZkH4OJo0W5xVdGCgo-6doDVv4nn85V42_VlI3MDvYi55ZnFVxKRhHQXd5sCQCxSoDw4fMUWWSvhO9IZq_nCWXFj3HjEFI4_PJEb-IdVSEwSUKDHs38O5m-UqCo/s400/Churchill+Downs+06.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5613279237781527490" border="0" /></a><br />So I've recently becoming very interested in horse racing, and by default, losing money on those horse races. I've owned horses for 11 years but I've never really paid attention to horse racing. In the last month I've been to two races, one at Indiana Downs and the other at the legendary Churchill Downs, where all of these photos come from. I'm slightly disappointed with the actual race photos here but I wasn't allowed to get as close to the rail as I wanted and I could only zoom in so far. I am however really happy with the jockey photo up at the top. I have another photo that I want to add to this but I'd reached my limit on size for the post, maybe I'll put it up later if I get the chance. Anyway, I had so much fun at the races. I met the jockey who had won the Preakness on Shackleford, Jesus Castanon, and broke even on my betting. If you ever get a chance to go I definitely recommend it. Hope everyone enjoys the photos and please leave some comments to let me know what you think. I start my internship down at Ft. Knox next week so you'll be seeing some photos of Army Cadets in training coming soon.BobbyDEllishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05327555331965799728noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2918061260694155526.post-4962999997415591172011-05-17T15:13:00.002-04:002011-05-17T15:17:26.101-04:00Hoping for Middle East Peace<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZDlRRc4c_U5mOfkUfkXLlzOKZGkVGdN18gacKJ2yKoIWm3E3tyhaZpNsRiWa9ZeX9ZDJ-rbknrQRaA7SrnA1OSa_fdT59g3btYNN-59cySNrZ0atTxjbV89ciRqL_Agdu7MMPulzPu8M/s1600/Ellis_faces.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZDlRRc4c_U5mOfkUfkXLlzOKZGkVGdN18gacKJ2yKoIWm3E3tyhaZpNsRiWa9ZeX9ZDJ-rbknrQRaA7SrnA1OSa_fdT59g3btYNN-59cySNrZ0atTxjbV89ciRqL_Agdu7MMPulzPu8M/s400/Ellis_faces.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5607765558418231330" border="0" /></a>Once again this is an older photo but I haven't taken anything that I really like since my Summer break has started. I deem this photo relevant though due to all of the stuff going on in the Middle East and Northern Africa. This photo is of a Tunisian student who just graduated Ball State. I took this photo of him just as the action in Tunisia was coming to a head about four months ago. Since the uprising in Tunisia is what helped start the democracy movement in the area I dedicate this post to them.BobbyDEllishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05327555331965799728noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2918061260694155526.post-2902693933468303892011-05-12T12:57:00.000-04:002011-05-13T16:22:15.210-04:00Today the Washington Post. This is an older photo that I took during the fall semester of a guy who was on campus telling everyone that they were going to go to hell. It's won two awards, 2nd in the ICPA Awards and 2nd in the Region 5 Mark of Excellence Awards, even though I personally don't think it's a very good photo. While the predominant feeling is jubilation there is some muttering of mixed feelings. Some feel it's a bitter sweet victory because of the fact that his victims can not return. Others feel it is not a victory at all after taking into account that amount of time and money it took to find him. And still others have been appalled at the level of jubilation brought about by the news of another human beings death. I'm definitely in the camp of mixed emotions.</p><p>When I first heard the news I was excited. This was the person who planned and had people carry out the worst attack on America in our history. It wasn't his death as a person that excited me so much as the death of what he symbolized. Bin Laden symbolized all the feelings of frustration we as a nation had at the 9/11 attacks, the death of our soldiers in the incurring wars, and the idea that this mass murderer who had done so much harm to us as a nation was keeping out of reach of the most technologically advanced nation in the world. However, in the big scheme of things he was a symbol more than anything.</p><p>While al-Qaeda was, and still is, a dangerous organization, it isn't the main force that our soldiers are fighting in Afghanistan. While there is often confusion between the difference between al-Qaeda and the Taliban make no mistake. They are different organizations. Most of the militants that our soldiers are facing in Afghanistan are not part of al-Qaeda but rather, part of the infamous Haqqani Network. A group closely allied with Taliban that is based out of North Waziristan, Pakistan. Haqqani is lead by a father-son team, the former of which had close ties to Bin Laden due to their shared conflict against the Soviets during the 1980s. The core of the group is made up of mostly Pashto tribals but that does not make it a tribal force. The group is comprised of those outside of the tribal areas and some out of the countries of Pakistan and Afghanistan entirely. The tribal links play a large role in how members are inducted and how it coordinates it's movements. All this has to do with the code of Pashto which is to confusing to get into in this (my friend who is a Pashto has told me that even he is confused by the system at times). Also, by no means are all Pashto members in the organization. Much like the KKK, these extremists/militants are the minority.</p><p>While both al-Qaeda and the Taliban have religious themes these organizations do not do their acts of terrorism based on religion, rather on policy. For example 9/11 was committed out of the distaste of America's foreign policy dealing with everything from incursion into other countries conflicts, bases in the Middle East, and the covert overthrow of unfriendly governments. Instead religion is used as a tool to help recruit from an ethnic community that has been abused by Western governments for as long as anyone in the area can remember and as an excuse for their actions. Bin Laden may be dead but the fight is extremely far from over. </p><p>While I watched the news this morning and I saw the reactions to the news of Bin Laden's death I could not help but be reminded of the infamous scenes of people dancing in the street after the 9/11 attacks. I have heard from multiple people that they are surprised by the "blood lust" of Americans for celebrating the death of human being. While I have not seen war personally, I have studied war and it's affects as I wish to go into the coverage of war. So I am not surprised by this outpouring of emotion. That does not mean that I am not in a way disturbed by it. The so called "Arabs" are often played up by the media as being evil and barbarous but there were many a white people dancing in the street last night. Whether they were celebrating the death of a person or a symbol, the correlation between that image and the image of dancing Muslim extremists after the fall of the Twin Towers can not be erased from my mind. </p><p>I can not speak for America. But, with what faith I have in the American people I will say that it is my hope that they are dancing out of the demise of a symbol. Because in the end, that's all this was. The United States can claim a moral victory but, at this point, not much else. <br /></p>BobbyDEllishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05327555331965799728noreply@blogger.com0
